Dr. Jonathan Winfield is a board-certified prosthodontist and San Diego native specializing in advanced dental implant surgery, full-arch reconstruction, and full-mouth rehabilitation. Raised in Encinitas and educated at some of the most respected institutions in American dentistry, Dr. Winfield brings a rare combination of specialist training, surgical precision, and genuine personal investment to every patient he treats at Winplants.
Dr. Winfield earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) before completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco — one of the most respected dental schools in the country. He then pursued advanced specialty training through the highly competitive Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), where he developed deep expertise in dental implants, full-arch reconstruction, digital dentistry, esthetics, and complex restorative care.
Following his residency, Dr. Winfield achieved board certification through the American Board of Prosthodontics — a distinction earned by fewer than 3% of practicing dentists in the United States. This certification requires passing a rigorous series of oral, written, and case-based examinations that verify clinical mastery across the full spectrum of advanced prosthodontic care. It is not a credential that comes with a dental degree — it is one that must be earned.
